9th Annual Boreal Birding Festival

A festival celebrating the boreal birds of the Adirondacks, featuring renowned birder Bruce Beehler. ?This three-day event features bird watching hikes, canoe trips, walks, safaris, outings and seminars throughout the county. It is for sale but there are no takers for the only eatery in the depressed town, so newcomer Percy suggests to Hannah that she raffle it off. Entry fees are $100 and the best essay on why you want the grill wins. Soon, mail is arriving by the wheelbarrow full and things are definitely cookin’ at the Spitfire Grill. $15 / $10 members. 18th Annual Black Fly Challenge Adirondack Mountain Bike Race

The 2013 BFC runs 40 miles from Indian Lake to Inlet through the rugged Moose River Plains, ending at Inlet's Arrowhead Park. Ham Radio Field Days

The Bear Bait Radio Club sets up camp for 24 hours to participate in the largest on-air amateur radio event in North America. Guests, law enforcement and members of the rescue squad and fire department are encouraged to come up and make a call and help Bear Bait score points. Open to the public.
