Wells Library notes

The Board of Directors of the Virginia Hosley Free Library in Wells has new officers for 2012.

Alice Megargle accepted the duties of chairman, moving up from treasurer. She replaces Terry Fisher, who retired from that position after holding it for five years.

The board salutes Terry for his dedicated service to the library for the past nine years, including his successful grant proposals for the Winter Blues programs for the past six years.

Edna Rew has moved from secretary to vice chairman, replacing Bob Megargle. Evelyn Stephens will be secretary and Andrea Maynard will be treasurer.

Bob Megargle and Terry Fisher will remain on the board, along with John Menke and Grace Lizak. The board usually meets the first Monday of each month.

The library did well with its book sale at the Tree Lighting and Craft Fair Nov. 26, with proceeds of $240. The next sale will be at the Winter Inside Garage Sale Feb. 4 at Wells Community Hall.

Winter Blues programs for 2012 are: Jan. 22, folksinger Don Golden at the library; Feb. 12, Indian folklorist Darren Bonaparte at WCH; March 18, “Foxy Brown” author Charles Yaple at the library; and April 22, Sun Mountain fiddler Dick Solberg at WCH. All start at 2 p.m.

Winter hours at the library are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon and Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. Explore the stacks and check out books, audio books, movies, puzzles and magazines.

To volunteer at the library call Alice at 924-2220 or any other board member.
