LONG LAKE -- World-renowned ice sculptor Stan Kolonko from the Ice Farm in Auburn is coming to Raquette Lake and Long Lake for his third Ice Fest.

Festivities kick off in Raquette Lake at noon Friday, Jan. 10. Cozy up for lunch at The Tap Room, then make your way over Raquette Lake Library, 1 Dillon Road, to witness the first of nine ice sculptures being installed between Long Lake and Raquette Lake.

At 3 p.m. Friday Kolonko will begin his first ice sculpture in Long Lake on behalf of Long Lake Historical Society. A sculpture of the Sagamore Hotel will be placed in front of the Town Office Building.

Stop by to watch this fascinating installation; parking is available behind the Town Office Building at 1130 Deerland Road.

Sculpting begins Saturday, Jan. 11, at 8 a.m. at Hoss's Country Corner, 1142 Main Street, in Long Lake. Then carving will move up the road to Shear Images Salon, followed by Shamrock Motel at 1055 Deerland Road, where Kolonko will install a large shamrock sculpture.

CHILI-TASTING

A chili-tasting will take place at about 12:30 p.m. at Long Lake Diner & Owl's Head Pub, 1161 Main Street, while Kolonko goes to work on another ice installation in front of this historic business. Bystanders are invited to try chili along with hot beverage specials.

Afterwards, head to Ali Baba's Liquor and Wine, 1601 Tupper Road, for an installation of Aladdin's genie lamp, followed by the installation of the ADK Trading Post's sculpture of a fish jumping from water.

The final sculpture of the day will be placed at Mt. Sabattis Recreation Center, 12 Pavilion Lane. Come for ice-skating and free hot cocoa to round out this day of ice art.

COME TO THE ICE BALL

The day's festivities will wrap up with an Ice Ball at the Geiger Arena from 7-10 p.m. Come for a "black tie" evening of ice dancing, hot chocolate and music by DJs Dan and Pat.

Wear your "finest attire" to skate the evening away. The most dashingly dressed attendees can compete for best-dressed prizes. All in Long Lakey style, of course.
