Supervisors organize for 2012

LAKE PLEASANT - Over 45 resolutions were approved when the Hamilton County Board of Supervisors held its annual Organizational Meeting Thursday, Jan. 5. Here are some of the highlights.

Because Ann Melious, director of Planning, Tourism & Community Development, is out on medical leave, the board authorized hiring former director William Osborne to fill in at his last rate of pay.

Clerk of the Board Laura Abrams, Piseco, was appointed to another two-year term. Inlet Supervisor John Frey was named budget officer.

Attorney Charles R. Getty Jr. was appointed as county attorney through Dec. 31, 2013, at $66,602 per annum.

Gordon L. “Don” Purdy II, Lake Pleasant, was reappointed as director of emergency services at an hourly rate of $20.94. Jay Griffin, Indian Lake, was appointed fire coordinator at an annual salary of $6,880. Gary L. Wickes, Speculator, was appointed emergency medical services coordinator at an annual salary of $6,880.

Barry Hutchins of Indian Lake was appointed to the Hamilton County Board of Ethics, to a term ending Dec. 31, 2015, pending his acceptance of the nomination.

William R. Zullo, Indian Lake, was reappointed county historian for another two years, at an annual salary of $10,538. Herbert W. Schmid, Inlet, was reappointed director of weights and measurers at annual salary of $13,043.

The board approved adding Bill Murphy, Indian Lake, to the Hamilton County Workforce Investment Board as a business representative.

The travel allowance was set at $0.555 per mile, to compensate employees who use their own vehicles to conduct county business.

Building Superintendent Tracy Eldridge was authorized to make the following appointments and changes due to the upcoming March 20 retirement of Senior Custodian Daniel Williams.

Effective Jan. 9 Daniel Fish will become a senior custodian at Grade 16 Step 2 at the hourly rate of $16.407; Mark Stuart to the same position and pay starting March 19; Bonnie Barton to full-time cleaner with a 40-hour work week; and Kelly King to administrative assistant with a 40-hour work week.

The following appointments to the Fire Advisory Board were approved for 2012: Benson, John G. Stortecky; Blue Mountain Lake Fire Chief Gregg George; Hope Fire Chief Peter Robinson and Assistant Chief Eric Robinson; Indian Lake Fire Chief Chris Mitchell and Assistant Chief Paul Strain; Inlet, Garret Hoffman; Lake Pleasant Fire Chief Bill Wharton and Assistant Chief Chris Hayes; Long Lake Fire Chief Jerry Woodworth and Assistant Chief Paul Brown; Morehouse Fire Chief Brian Taylor and President Ted Bartella; Piseco Fire Chief Aaron Bartholomew and Assistant Chief Tim O’Rourke; Raquette Lake Fire Chief Tom Mattice; Speculator Fire Chief Karl Blanchard and 1st Assistant Chief Tom Hoover; and Wells Fire Chief Vince Lauria and Assistant Chief Rob Both.

The New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation has awarded the county a Community Development Block Grant of up to $200,000. The Hamilton County Industrial Develop-ment Agency will administer the funds.
