PISECO -- An ad hoc Capital Improvement Committee has been formed for the Piseco school building and a new superintendent of schools, Richard Rose, has been chosen.

The advisory committee is to review the school building's capital improvement needs, establish priorities and costs, consult with the appropriate engineering firm and advise the Piseco Common School District Board of Trustees of its findings.

Trustee Scott Pierce, John Rajca, Greg Dorr, Mel LaScola, John Casey and the superintendent of schools were appointed to the committee.

Rose's appointment is subject to agreement on terms and conditions of employment. President Christine Michienzi was authorized to negotiate on behalf of the school district. Michienzi and Trustee Sue Casey voted 'aye' while Pierce voted 'nay.'

As of Jan. 9 the contract had not yet been completed and approved by the board.

In other business during a special meeting of the board Dec. 18, 2013 the 2013-14 contracts for Rajca, Lynn Wilt and Clerk Victoria Orr were approved. Rajca and Wilt's are retroactive to July 1, 2013; Orr's is retroactive to Nov. 1, 2013.
