Indian Lake Hockey Program starts

INDIAN LAKE - The Indian Lake Hockey Program began Jan. 19. Practice is Thursday nights at the Ski Hill off Rt. 30. Sign-up night and equipment swap continue Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. at the ski hut.

Any child ages 7 to 14 who wants to learn and play hockey is welcome from 6-7:30 p.m. If lack of equipment is a problem used, donated equipment can be borrowed for the season.

Parents should come prepared to help suit up the kids before each practice. It is also a good idea to have skates sharpened regularly at Pine’s Country Store, which donates the cost of sharpening to the hockey team.

Practice will be canceled if the temperature is 10 degrees or below. This would be announced by the school before 3 p.m. if possible. If not, attempts will be made to contact each parent; make sure coaches have contact numbers.

Sometimes it snows just before, or during practice. Coaches cannot shovel off the snow and conduct practice at the same time. Parents and shovels are needed to clear the rink when this happens.

Anyone interested in helping coach is asked to contact Tim Pine.

Ages 14 and up skate Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. For more information call Tim Pine at Pine’s Country Store, 648-5212, or at home at 648-6311.
