Feb Fest 2012 - Calendar of Events

Feb. 3

Family Movie Night at North Country Bible Fellowship, Elm Lake Road, Speculator. Free admission, popcorn, candy and refreshments for the entire family. Contact the church office at 548-5777 for the movie title and general information.

Feb. 4

Rail Jam at Oak Mountain, Elm Lake Road, Speculator. 5 p.m. Third rail competition of the season under the lights. Entry fee $5. Prizes. Limited to 25 people.

Feb. 11

Lions Club Poker Run. Registration 9 a.m. to noon at The Lemon Tree and Oxbow Inn. All stops close at 2:30 p.m.; all cards need to be turned in no later than 3 p.m. at The Inn at Speculator for awards. All stops are both snowmobile and auto accessible. Sponsored by Speculator Lions Club. All proceeds benefit Lions Club charities.

Feb. 12

Annual Christmas Tree Burning and Sledding Party, Oxbow Inn, Rt. 8, Piseco. Starting at 2 p.m. Sledding, bonfire, live music, professional wood carving and fireworks. Refreshments provided by and event sponsored by Pleasant Riders Snowmobile Club. Donations for fireworks accepted at the Oxbow Inn.

Feb. 18

Sacandaga Challenge at Oak Mountain: 10 a.m. Race through gates, hit small freestyle jumps...challenge your skills. Entry fee $10, includes free T-shirt. Four categories: Men’s Ski, Men’s Ride, Women’s Ski and Women’s Ride. Prizes for each category. Sign up now, only 25 spots available.

Feb. 18

Spaghetti Dinner at Oak Mountain: 4-7 p.m. Spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread and desserts.

Feb. 18

Torchlight Parade / Night Ski Event at Oak Mountain: Come celebrate the New Year with a kid’s torchlight parade followed by an instructor’s parade and fireworks. First 25 kids to sign up will participate in the torchlight parade.

Feb. 19

Free Pancake Breakfast sponsored by Lake Pleasant Vol. Fire Department, South Shore Road, Lake Pleasant. 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, coffee, orange juice. A 50/50 raffle will be held. There are still chances to get in on the annual raffle to be drawn during the annual picnic in July. Come out and have a hearty breakfast with family and friends. As always, donations are gratefully accepted.

Feb. 25

Speculator-Lake Pleasant-Piseco Fish and Game Club 11th Annual Ice Fishing Contest: Register at The Inn at Speculator from 5-9 p.m. Feb. 24 and 5-9 a.m. Feb. 25. Entry fee is $25 in advance / $30 the day of the event.

Feb. 25

“Dummy” Big-Air Contest and Torchlight Parade at Oak Mountain: 10 a.m. Build a dummy that attaches to skis or a snowboard to launch off a jump. Each dummy will be judged on creativity, best crash and biggest air. Entry fee $25. Cash prize for the winner.

Feb. 25

Torchlight Parade at Oak Mountain: 5 pm. Second Torchlight Parade of the season. Kids parade (age 12 and under) followed by instructors’ parade.
