LAKE PLEASANT - The Town of Lake Pleasant saw a small increase in building permits issued but a drop in new construction in 2011 as compared to 2010.

Code Enforcement Officer Victoria Buyce issued her 2011 report to the Lake Pleasant Town Board Monday, Jan. 17.

Five more building permits were issued in 2011 than in 2010, 86 and 81 respectively. The increase was due to home improvements, which went from 33 in 2010 to 53 in 2011.

Home improvement building permits were issued for projects including decks, garages, porches, shed ramps, wells, solid fuel burning devices and foundation repair. Most other categories saw a decrease.

Only two new residential building permits were issued last year, for homes on Page Street and Gilmantown Road.

One new commercial building permit was issued, for a cabin at Iggy’s at Moffitt Beach. Two commercial building permits were issued in 2010.

Twelve permits were issued for alterations or additions in 2011, down from 16 in 2010. Five permits were issued for septic systems, down from eight; and six for demolition, down from 10.
