INLET - Good progress continues on construction of the Inlet Wastewater Treat-ment Plant, which is still within budget despite the Inlet Town Board approving two change orders and increasing the cost of the project Feb. 12.

Matt Cooper, a senior engineer for Bernier Carr & Associates, Watertown, updated the board on the plant’s progress. It is being built at Fern Park.

On budget and schedule, Cooper said he is expecting a start-up date in late April or early May, with the plant going online in mid-June. The plant is 70 percent complete and work is going as hoped, he said.

Cooper asked the board to approve an amendment to the owner-engineer agreement that adds $50,205 to the cost. This is due to the need for two representatives overseeing the downtown work done in the fall, when money for just one representative was budgeted. The board agreed.

The board also agreed to an increase that will allow further cement inspections if needed. The extra $6,388 would come from the contingency fund.

The town board is hoping for a shared services agreement with the Town of Webb that will allow Inlet to use Webb’s wastewater employees to operate the plant.

Hamilton County Board of Supervisors Chairman William Farber has secured some funding, amount to be determined, through the North Country Regional Economic Development Council.

The Inlet Town Board will next meet Tuesday, March 5, at 7:30 pm in Town Hall. This is a change due to the supervisor being out of town.
