INDIAN LAKE - Irish or not, everyone is welcome at Indian Lake’s St. Patrick’s Weekend Celebration. This annual event is back and enthusiasm is high.

Everyone is encouraged to come out Friday afternoon for the parade, which showcases the Hat Contest. Local grade-schoolers will make hats representing the theme of this year’s Parents As Reading Partners program and wear them in the parade. All children are welcome to participate.

Also, all dogs are invited to join in the parade in anticipation of the Mutt Strut.

Friday evening will see a Volleyball Tournament in the Indian Lake Central School Gymnasium. Form a team of eight players to compete or just come out and cheer. Entry fees are $2 each or $16 per team and admission is $1. The proceeds will benefit the Community Action Agency and the local food bank.

Saturday’s events will include the popular Irish Road Bowling, for the young and not so young. Registration and check-in will be at Town Hall on Pelon Road from 12-12:45 p.m. with play starting at 1 p.m.

This four-member team competition will have four categories this year. The Men’s, Women’s and Mixed teams must consist of four adults over age 16 and the Family Team has to have no more than three children under age 16 and at least one adult over age 18 and has to be immediate family. Pre-registration forms are available at Town Hall and the chamber of commerce.

The weekend finishes up Sunday with the Mutt Strut dog show at the Ski Hut on Tower Hill off Rt. 30 starting at 1 p.m. The first year this event drew nearly 50 contestants, but it is also fun to just watch.

There are 12 categories: Largest, Smallest, Cutest, Most Unique, Most Polite, Shortest Haired, Longest Haired, Best Dressed, Most Colorful, Most Talkative, Youngest and Oldest. Early registration forms will be available at Town Hall and the chamber of commerce.

Local eateries will offer Irish Specials throughout the weekend. For more information on the weekend’s events contact Town of Indian Lake Events / Activities Coordinator Vonnie Liddle at 648-5828 or
