Crandall to be sentenced June 5

ALBANY - The sentencing date for George S. Crandall III, a former resident of Wells, has been changed again, to June 5 at 2 p.m. in the federal courthouse here.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward P. Grogan says Crandall is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending sentencing.

Crandall was convicted in U.S. District Court on two felony charges in June 2011: being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

He was charged after his Northville area home was raided in March 2009 following an investigation involving five law enforcement agencies. Authorities found a .22 magnum rifle and ammunition.

Crandall, 65, was convicted following a two-day jury trial. He is facing up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of parole.
