INDIAN LAKE - Lance Pearson has received a conditional use permit to build addition to his home in Blue Mountain Lake.

The Indian Lake Planning Board approved the permit following a public hearing Wednesday, May 1. The 24- by 36-foot addition will turn Pearson's single-family home on Rt. 28/30, across from the old Forest House, into a multi-family residence.

Pearson said his mother would live in the addition.

In addition to the permit application and plans for the addition, Pearson provided the board with a letter of non-jurisdiction from the Adirondack Park Agency, the regional zoning board. It was needed because the property is close to a scenic road corridor and the Blue Mountain Wild Forest Area.

No one from the public attended the hearing. Eleven letters were sent to notify nearby property owners of the public hearing, but none responded.

With no objections from the public and no concerns from the board, the conditional use permit was approved.

With no other business before the board, Chairman William Seymour suggested the members consider appointing a vice chairperson to serve when he is absent.

This was the first meeting Seymour has been able to attend since the first of the year, due to illness. After a short discussion, Ben Strader suggested Barbara Anderson serve as vice chair in Seymour's absence.

The board voted unanimously to recommend that the town board appoint Anderson as vice chairman. The town board makes appointments to the planning board.

The Indian Lake Planning Board will next meet Wednesday, June 5, starting at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.
