Cancer screening is free

GLENS FALLS -- The C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital here and the American Academy of Dermatology will hold a free Skin Cancer Screening Clinic Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to noon. The hospital is at 100 Park Street.

Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers, accounting for nearly half of all cancers in the United States. Incidences of melanoma, the most serious type, have increased by more than 2,000 percent since the 1930s. One person dies from melanoma every hour.

This event is free and open to the public. Individuals with no insurance are especially encouraged to participate.
