On Flag Day, June 14, American Legion Post 1392 in Indian Lake was given this poster of a Lockheed C-130 Hercules airplane from the 109th Air Lift Wing of the New York Air National Guard in Scotia. TSgt. Abraham Gadway, born and raised in Indian Lake and serving with the 109th, presented the 17- by 24-inch picture to the Legion just before the Flag Day ceremony at the Legion Hall. It was given as a token of memorabilia for the Legion's visit and tour of the air base last August. During the Flag Day ceremony grade school children and all those present said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang "You're A Grand Old Flag," the Legionnaires fired a three-gun salute and "Taps" was sounded. Everyone was treated to ice cream cones. (Photo submitted)
