Ball drop for kids starts Fourth of July in Inlet

Friday, June 28, 2013 - Updated: 11:28 PM

INLET - Come to Inlet to celebrate Independence Day.

The fun starts at Fern Park with the annual Ping Pong Ball Drop at 1 p.m. This event brings hundreds of children up to age 12 to the park, who watch as Payne's Air Service drops ping-pong balls onto the ball field from a seaplane. The plane will make three separate drops for the different age groups. The children will trade their ping-pong balls for prizes donated by local businesses.

Starting at 7:30 p.m. enjoy the music of Jamie Notarthomas as he kicks off Inlet's Sunsets by the Lake summer concert series. Liz Friedel will join him on violin and vocals for this year's Fourth of July celebration at the beautiful Arrowhead Park lakefront.

The two will perform the pre-fireworks concert with a mix of folk songs, pop classics, rock, blues and Notarthomas' original songs that have become familiar to many in the region.

A spectacular display of fireworks will begin at dusk, with the best view being from the Arrowhead lakefront.

For more information and a list of this summer's concerts or a schedule of events go to or call the Inlet Information Office at (315) 357-5501 or 1-866-GO INLET.
