WELLS - Thirty-eight girls and boys attended the July 6-7 youth basketball clinic at Wells Community Hall to learn fundamentals, practice game situations and take part in foul shot and hot shot completions.

Organizer Shawn Taylor has been involved in the game for many years, but this was the first clinic he has ever run.

"The success of the clinic couldn't have been done without the outstanding help and support of so many people," he said. "I would like to thank European pro Harley Fuller, New York State Hall of Fame Coach Jim Zullo, Coach John Goodemote, Coach Mike Kulkbrenner, Kueka College Assistant Coach Brendan McCarthy, Coach Don Beach, Coach Charlie Orr and Wells Varsity players Jake Earley and Ben Brenan. I would also like to thank the Town of Wells, Dave Brenen and Nick Mauro for all their help."

Donations were also received from Sunrise Diner, Donuts & More, Pro Care and Sandra Orr. All the proceeds will be donated to Wells Central School to support the elementary basketball program there.

Taylor was happy with the turnout of 38 boys and girls. "The response was great," he said. "I am looking forward to doing this again next year. A special thanks to all those involved in making a difference with our youth."
