INDIAN LAKE - Home Health / Hospice Aide Susan Mitchell's outstanding performance in providing excellence in client care has been featured in a recent issue of Home Health Aide Digest, only national publication devoted solely to these important health care workers.

Mitchell, who lives in Indian Lake, has mostly cared for clients in Indian Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Long Lake, Raquette Lake and Inlet.

Each day, thousands of home health and hospice aides across the nation provide personal care to ill or disabled clients in the place they most want to be -- their home. "Sue Mitchell belongs to this important group of paraprofessionals who provide up to 90 percent of patient care in the home setting," says Home Health Aide Digest Publisher Nathan Unseth. "They are the backbone of the home care industry."

Each issue of Home Health Aide Digest profiles a home health or hospice aide "who best represents the profession," he says.

Helping Hands Caregivers, her employer, nominated Mitchell because she meets the criteria established by other home health and hospice aides nationwide.

Unseth says Mitchell was selected for the 'Spirit Profile' because of the special spirit, skill, style, commitment and compassion she brings to her work.

According to Helping Hands Caregivers Director of Patient Care Services Camille Bodden, Mitchell has worked for Helping Hands Caregivers for 18 years. "During that time, Sue has earned the highest respect from her clients, coworkers and supervisors," says Bodden, "and is most deserving of this national recognition."

Mitchell will be a candidate for Home Health Aide Digest's annual Home Health Aide of the Year Award. The winner will be announced near the end of the year and will receive a cash award donated by the Digest's sponsors, to use for career advancement through training or whatever other means the aide chooses.

"An independent panel of judges will select the winning aide from the six individuals who have been honored throughout the year in the 'Spirit Profile' column," says Unseth.

Helping Hands Caregivers has provided home health and hospice care to Hamilton County residents since 1974. It offers employment opportunities for home health and hospice aides who are dedicated to providing the best possible care.

The office provides a range of services, including Expanded In-home Services for the Elderly workers, personal care aides, home health aides, hospice aides and respite aides. Helping Hands Caregivers is located at 145 White Birch Lane, Indian Lake NY 12842. Call (518) 648-5713.
