OLD FORGE - The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks has presented the Kommunity Youth & Activity Center here with a $9,279 check.

The Kiwanis raised the money through its 13th Annual Winter Sports Challenge. The funds will be used for the continuing operation of the KYAC.

Winter Sports Challenge awards were made to the top fund-raisers.

The No. 1 Fundraising Team was the Town of Webb School Key Club, represented by Kiwanis Member and Town of Webb School Key Club Advisor Diane Amos, who accepted the Traveling Plaque and a Permanent Certificate.

The No. 2 Fundraising Team was Kinderwood, represented by Diane Heroux and Barbara Uzdavinis, who received a Permanent Certificate.

The No. 1 Fundraising Individual, Hazel Dellavia of Team Beta Sigma Phi, received a Permanent Certificate and $50 and the No. 1 Fundraising Individual under age 18, Madeline Mahoney, who raised over $800, received a Permanent Certificate and $100.

Winter Sports Challenge Co-Chairs Bill Ransom and Bob Teesdale say it is the participants, sponsors and volunteers that make it such an exciting community event.
