Carol and John Brannaka of Beaver Dams in Schuyler County, southwest of Watkins Glen, drove four hours one-way to enjoy the music and the Adirondacks, bringing their daughter and grandson along. They said the bluegrass festivals near their home are too crowded to enjoy.

Michael Marshall of Speculator sold his photographs. Other arts vendors were Olivia and Betsy Platia of Piseco with jeans shorts, toddler dresses, jewelry and pillows made of vintage handkerchiefs; Al's Adirondack Photos from Piseco and Herkimer; and Brian Bledsoe of Speculator with his photographs. The children had a great time playing as their parents relaxed and enjoyed the music.

Oak Mountain Ski Center in Speculator held its second annual summer bluegrass festival Saturday, Aug. 17, featuring five bands and four arts and crafts vendors. The turnout exceeded last year with many pitching tents and staying the night. The only disappointment was the chairlift breaking down.
