Crazy for bass

The Long Lake Summer Bass Derby took place Saturday, Aug. 10, with 15 registered teams of two participating for cash prizes, a 50/50 raffle and the lunker award for heaviest fish. Eight hours of fishing kicked off at 6 a.m. with teams of two vying to catch a maximum of five bass, winner determined by live-weight, with a one-pound penalty per dead fish. Chuck Frost brought in the lunker, a 4.97-pound, 20.5-inch bass. The Long Lake Fish & Game Derby sponsored the event.
