"Mystery of The Buttercup" was performed at Long Lake Town Hall Aug. 9 during Local History Weekend. The play, written and directed by Gail Huntley, tells the story of the sinking of the steamboat "Buttercup" (owned by William Durant) in 1885 by Long Lake guides and its recovery in 1959 by two local SCUBA divers off the shore of the old Sagamore Hotel. The cast consisted of locals, many of whom are descendants of original guides from the region. The Town Hall was filled to capacity with 125 attending. Complimentary refreshments were served to the delighted audience after the show.
