Kevin Desrochers' case adjourned

Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - Updated: 11:11 PM

LAKE PLEASANT - The case against Kevin R. Desrochers, 23, was adjourned when he appeared in Lake Pleasant Justice Court Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Desrochers was charged Sept. 11 with promoting a sexual performance by a child less than 17 years old, a class D felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

The arrest followed an investigation by Hamilton County Sheriff's Office into an allegation that Desrochers received sexually explicit electronic digital photographs in April of a 16-year-old Indian Lake girl.

Hamilton County Assistant District Attorney Sterling Goodspeed asked for the adjournment, saying the investigation has not yet been concluded.

Desrochers, who has been released on bail, was present in court with his parents and grandmother.

Goodspeed asked that bail be continued unchanged and orders of protection be continued until the next court date. Justice Gordon "Don" Purdy agreed and set Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. for Desrochers to reappear.

The felony charge carries a sentence of up to seven years in prison. Endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, is punishable by up to one year in county jail.
