LAKE PLEASANT - The Town of Lake Pleasant will be drawing up specifications and seeking bids on three separate projects to upgrade town buildings, all part of an overall energy-saving plan.

When the Town Board met Monday, Sept. 16, it agreed to draw up specifications and seek bids for a new steel roof for Town Hall and the attached highway garage and new windows and overhead doors for the garage.

Although the board is planning to pay for the projects by issuing municipal bonds, it is only looking at having the new roof installed this year.

As the bids come in and actual costs are known, the board intends to determine how much must be funded by bonds and how much can be saved by having town employees do as much of the work as possible.

The board expects to have the windows and overhead doors at the highway garage replaced in the spring.

NO MORE TIRES

With Superintendent of Highways Leo Desrochers on vacation, Supervisor Neil McGovern reported tires will not be accepted at any of the county's transfer stations until further notice, because the vendor who has been taking them has closed down.

Hamilton County Superintendent of Highways Tracy Eldridge is looking for a new vendor.

McGovern also reported the Parks and Recreation crew has steam-cleaned the tennis courts at the county complex and "they are looking great."

BAR NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

Last month McGovern reported on Mike Vischer's resignation from the Board of Assessment Review. Now the town has received a letter of resignation from BAR member John Mullens.

The town is hoping at least two residents will volunteer for the vacancies.

The town board will next meet Monday, Oct. 7, starting at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.
