LONG LAKE - The works of 17 deceased Long Lake artists are featured at the Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Long Lake Public Library's exhibition, "Artists of the Ages: Remembering and Reminiscing."

The library hosted a reception Sept. 4 for the families, friends and public to view the works, which include paintings, photographs, charcoal sketches, needle work and fungus art. The crowd enjoyed the wide range of abilities, styles and techniques on exhibit, and was impressed by the amount of talent such a small town has produced.

Some of the artists were seasonal residents, but the bulk of the work is homegrown and self-taught. The Adirondack region is an obvious muse of the artists represented, with landscapes predominating the show, although there are portraits and still-lives sprinkled throughout. The show continues through October.
