Jerry Waskiewicz - Adirondack Christmas on Main Street in Inlet and Old Forge is all about the season. Here, Santa and Alex Sutherland of Inlet share some love at the 2007 tree lighting ceremony.

Jerry Waskiewicz - Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer were out for a stroll during the 2008 Adirondack Christmas On Main Street in Inlet when, to their delight, they met up with Wyatt, Derek and Jared Pine from Pennsylvania.

Christmas on Main Street coming

INLET-Inlet and Old Forge will team up for An Adirondack Christmas on Main Street again this year, from Friday, Nov. 25, through Sunday, Nov. 27.

Instead of fighting Black Friday crowds in big box stores and malls, come to these friendly small towns for unique shopping combined with family-friendly activities.

An Adirondack Christmas on Main Street starts in both hamlets with stores opening their doors at 10 a.m.

INLET

In Inlet, children are encouraged to visit Inlet Information Center to drop off a letter to Santa, making sure to include a return address (so Santa can write back, of course).

Festivities and events throughout the village include a Dog Parade, the popular Book Sale at Inlet Library, a bonfire Saturday afternoon and plenty of opportunities for shopping and Thanksgiving bargains.

Families do not want to miss the holiday film in town, or the popular Candy Cane Hunt in Arrowhead Park. For a complete schedule go to www.adirondackchristmasonmainstreet.com/.

OLD FORGE

In Old Forge visit the Town of Webb Historical Association’s exhibit, “Medicine in the North Country.”

Meet the sled dogs, visit Candyland at the old Thendara Town Hall or, if in Utica, climb aboard Adirondack Scenic Railroad for the Adirondack Christmas on Main Street run, arriving in Thendara in time to have photos taken with Mrs. and Mr. Claus at the Forge Motel.

Sunday is all about the kids. Have breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus to get fueled up for the annual Reindeer Run. The Strand Theater will have a special holiday matinee.
