Mary Jo Flanagan

Mary Jo Flanagan, 61, of Deerland Rd., passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, April 11, 2012 at her home.
Born on September 7, 1950 in Buffalo, she was the    daughter of the late Robert and Joan (Westerling) Howard.   
She was a graduate of Bishop McMahon High School, Buffalo.
She married Jerome F. Flanagan on October 16, 1971 in Buffalo.  After vacationing in Long Lake for many years, she and Jerry moved there permanently in 2001.
Mary Jo worked for the McGuire Group in Buffalo for many years. She then worked at Hamilton County Public Health in Indian Lake for 11 years.
She was an avid reader and also enjoyed bowling, and quilting. Above all, Mary Jo loved her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband of 40 years, Jerome F. Flanagan; their four children, Jerome R. Flanagan and his wife Beth of Charlotte, NC, Cori Zagara and her husband Guy of Buffalo, Mary Ellen Flanagan of Buffalo, Maureen Flanagan of Buffalo; six grandchildren, Alexandra, Reagan, Marci, and Charlie Zagara, and Abby and Joe Flanagan; three brothers, Michael Howard and his wife Patricia of Boulder, CO, Kenneth Howard and his wife Jill of Buffalo, Kevin Howard and his wife Cindy of Buffalo; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held at St. Henry’s Parish Center, Long Lake.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Henry’s Church.
The Rite of Committal was in Long Lake Cemetery, Long Lake.

Arrangements were entrusted to Miller Funeral Home, 6357 State Rte. 30, Indian Lake, NY 12842.
