Harold Verkleir
August 16, 2011


Harold Verkleir was born September 11, 1929 the son of William A. and Sophie Verkleir in Amsterdam, NY.  
He graduated in 1947 from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam and moved to Mayfield, NY. In 1948 to join his father in the Mayfield Sand & Gravel Company. Upon his father’s retirement he became the owner.
In the early ‘60s he purchased Art Stone Company of Gloversville, NY. He became a producer of concrete blocks and precast septic tanks and concrete pipe. He then added Verkleir Welding Supply.
During his long life he was always into scrap. Upon his semi-retirement in 1980 he continued scrapping  until his death.
After 27 years of service to the Mayfield Volunteer Fire Department he became a life member.
He is survived by three sons, Michael H. of Edinburg, Daniel J. and William A. of Mayfield; two daughters, Mary K. Mauro of Wells, Kathy A. of Mayfield and three  grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes his body was donated to Albany Medical Center.
There are no calling hours.

Fernand G. “Jerry” Allie

Fernand G. “Jerry” Allie, 85, of Colonie, passed away on August 9th, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital.
Born in Manseau, Quebec, he was the son of the late Alina and Ernest Allie.
Jerry was a member of the 459th Bombardier Squadron of the AAF. He taught at Wells Central School, and then Phillip Livingston in Albany until 1986. He was best known as the man with a chuckle and a quick joke for everyone.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife Mary Jane, and siblings Rea, Yvette, Bernard, John and Roger.
He is survived  his children, Barbara, Paul, JoAnn, Patricia, Mary Ann, Diane, Wayne, Sharon, Stanley and Carolyn; grandchildren, Collin, Erica, Grant, Gretchen, Gabriel, Sarah, Anna, Patrick, Paul, Katherine, Lindsey, Daniel, Thomas, Henry, Tristan, Emmaleigh, Ryan, Caitlin and Rachel; great grandson Nathan; sister Madeline and brother, Father Stanley.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on August 19, 2011 at 10:00 am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Loudonville.
Calling hours were held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.

Lois Seabury
August 19, 2011


Lois Lidster Seabury, 84, of Wilton NY and a former resident of Suffern, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Mary’s Haven in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Born in Suffern NY, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marion Lidster. After graduating from Suffern High School she was employed at the Lafayette Bank and Trust, and was the former secretary to the Suffern Presbyterian Church. She worked until her retirement for the Town of Ramapo in the Receiver of Taxes Office.
She was predeceased by her husband and childhood sweetheart Thomas A. (Tom) Seabury after 62 and a half years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Randall (Randy) Seabury (Patricia Discini) of Suffern and Lake Pleasant NY, her daughters Janet Seabury Pressley of Saratoga Springs NY, Joanne S. Buyce of Wilton NY, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her     brother Wallace E. (Laura Elizabeth “Betty”) Lidster of Asheville NC, her      sister-in-law Helen Seabury Rose of Suffern NY, several nieces and nephews.
At Lois’s request relatives and friends will be invited to join the family for a celebration of her life and interment at the Gerald B. H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylervillle, NY in the near future.
