Raymond F. Reiff
August 24th, 2010


Raymond F. Reiff, Jr, 90,  longtime Long Lake resident, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 24th, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy following a brief illness.
Born in Yonkers, New York on October 25th, 1919, he was the son of the late Raymond F. Reiff and of Mildred Aquino.
He entered the U.S. Army at the age of 21 and proudly served his country in the European Theatre, where he sustained serious injuries in combat at Utah Beach. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his actions there.
He married his lifelong sweetheart Louise Theresa DiDio in 1954, and with her raised a family until her passing in 1989.
Raymond enjoyed a long career as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service in Bronxville. Upon his retirement, Raymond and his family relocated to Long Lake, where he entered the restaurant business operating the Lakeside Lodge. He enjoyed his customers and made many friends. In 2002, he relocated to Troy to be near his daughter and grandson. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his beloved devoted children, Priscilla Reiff of Troy, Kimberly Reiff of Richmond, Va., and Raymond F. Reiff, III of Worcester, N.Y.; his cherished grandchildren Zachary and Jessie Reiff, and his treasured sister, Dorothy (late Joseph) Mancini of Yonkers, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Service to celebrate Raymond’s life on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 beginning at noon at the Long Lake Cemetery in Long Lake. Full military honors will be accorded to pay tribute to his gallant service to his country. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, Watervliet, N.Y.

Janice Ann (Luzinas) Spinks

Janice Ann (Luzinas) Spinks, 67, of Outlet Road, Piseco died Saturday August 28, 2010 at the Albany Medical Center following a long illness.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY on June 9, 1943, the daughter of the late Oliver and Mary (Dziewit) Luzinas.
She was a graduate of Geneseo College and received her master’s degree from the College of Saint Rose. She was employed as a Speech Therapist for the Johnstown School District for many years.
She enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, and camping in the Adirondacks, skiing, traveling, embroidering, and baking. She loved baseball and was an avid Yankee fan.
Janice loved being surrounded by family and friends. Everyone who knew her enjoyed her sense of humor. She truly had a kind and generous heart.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard Spinks. Other survivors include one brother, Edmund L. Luzine and wife, Elaine, of Guilderland, NY, two sisters, Frances Luzinas of Amsterdam, NY and Sylvia Coppola and husband, Frederick, of Saratoga Springs, NY, sister-in-law, Linda Luzinas, of Blossvale, NY, step-daughter, Debra Tinker, of Johnstown,NY, step-son, Michael Spinks and wife, Kimberly, of Gloversville, NY, brother-in-law, Allan Spinks and wife, Judy, of Chestertown, NY. She was also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Eric J. Luzinas, in 2002.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on September 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at the St. James Roman Catholic Church, Rt. 8, Lake Pleasant, NY.  
Burial will be held in Higgins Bay Cemetery, Piseco.  Memorial
Contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.  
Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.
