E. SYRACUSE -- Ruth F. Johnson, 90, of East Syracuse and Lake Pleasant left this world in her sleep at home the morning of November 18, 2013.
She was born in Buffalo, NY and moved to this area when she married the love of her life, Axel “Rudy” Johnson, in 1948. He predeceased her on June 19, 1994, their 46th wedding anniversary.
She resided for 64 years in their home built by her brother-in-law with the help of her husband. In their retirement years, they spent many a happy day at their summer home.
She was very active in St. Matthew’s Church, having served as an officer in the school’s Mother’s Club and the Church’s Altar and Rosary Society. In her spare time she was an avid bowler and enjoyed being a homemaker, entertaining family and friends.
Ruth was also predeceased by her parents; three younger brothers, Joseph, William and David; and a nephew, Anthony.
She is survived by her daughter, Claire, who lived at home providing Ruth with care; a sister-in-law, Josephine Light; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Matthew’s Church, 229 West Yates Street in East Syracuse. Burial was at White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. Delaney-Greabell-Adydan Funeral Home, 241 Kinne St., East Syracuse, handled the arrangements.
