Police Report - 01/04/2012

Saturday, Dec. 31, 10:30pm: Three people were hospitalized after a small pickup truck left the road on State Route 8 in the Town of Wells, near the county line, hit a large rock and caught fire.Wells and Speculator ambulances transported two men, both in critical condition, to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, while a Johnsburg ambulance transported a second passenger to NLH, according to an emergency responder on the scene.

State Police at Mayfield say the responding trooper found the vehicle fully aflame when he arrived, with ammunition discharging and its three occupants nearby.Driver Peter M. McChesney, 59, Middle Grove, was charged with driving while intoxicated - first offense, a misdemeanor; and failure to keep right, imprudent speed and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, all infractions.

Passenger Theron M. McChesney, 50, Long Lake, was charged with UPM.

Wells Volunteer Fire Company also responded. Speculator Auto towed the vehicle.

Thursday, Dec. 22: Bijan Nahavandi, 29, Long Beach, was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to stop at a stop sign. Deputy Alex Stuart made the arrest in the Town of Long Lake.

Nahavandi was arraigned in Long Lake Town Court, where he was released to reappear Jan. 9.
