Police Report -- 03/26/2014

Saturday, March 15, 1:12 p.m.: The unattended death of a 47-year-old man in the Town of Hope was reported to State Police at Mayfield by the man's live-in caretaker, who found him unresponsive.

Ambulance Service of Fulton County was unable to revive the man. Hamilton County Coroner Donald MacHattie ordered the body removed to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville for autopsy, which determined the cause of death to be pneumonia.

Sunday, March 16, 3:40 p.m.: Two people were injured in a snowmobiling accident on the Chain Lakes Road in the Town of Indian Lake, near the beach.

Lori A. Sawyer, 52, Indian Lake, was attempting to drive up a snowbank when her machine rolled over and down the bank, landing on top of her. Indian Lake Volunteer Ambulance Corps took her to Glens Falls Hospital with a fractured hip.

Monday, March 17, 6:30 p.m.: Thomas A. Mandel, 56, Long Lake, was charged with DWI - first offense, a Class U misdemeanor. State Police made the arrest on Rt. 30 in the Town of Tupper Lake.

Saturday, March 22: Rebecca L. Spear, 53, Speculator, was charged with second-degree menacing. Hamilton County Sheriff's Office made the arrest in the Town of Lake Pleasant. Spear is to appear in Lake Pleasant Town Court April 1. New York State Police assisted at the scene.
