Police Report -- 07/30/2014

Tuesday, July 15, 1:15 p.m.: Two people were hurt in a one-vehicle accident on Rt. 30, 150 feet north of Jessup River Road in the Town of Lake Pleasant.

Charles A. Hight, 54, Frankfort, was driving a NYS Department of Transportation stake truck south around a bend when it crossed the northbound lane and left the highway. The truck traveled about 66 yards, sideswiping two trees before hitting a group of trees head-on and coming to rest.

Hight told Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Kevin Braunius he did not know what happened. Speculator Volunteer Fire Department used Jaws of Life to extricate Hight from the truck and Indian Lake Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to Glens Falls Hospital with hip / upper leg pain.

Speculator Volunteer Ambulance Corps took passenger Peter M. Shields, 51, to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville with abrasions.

Hight was charged with driving to left of pavement markings in a no passing zone.

July 20/21: The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating several break-ins in the Town of Arietta. They occurred between July 20 at 10 a.m. and July 21 at 8 a.m. Piseco Community Hall and Piseco Lake Lodge were both burglarized during that time frame.

Both locations had several items stolen. Anyone with any information about the break-ins is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office at (518) 548-3113 or sheriff@hamiltoncountyny.gov. Callers can remain anonymous.

Wednesday, July 23: State Police at Mayfield made two arrests in connection with the July 1 burglary of a home in Hope Falls. Antiques and household items were stolen.

Kyle C. Walrath, 22, and Erin R. Jobin, 39, both of Johnstown, were each charged with one count of second-degree burglary, a Class C felony. They were both remanded to the custody of the Hamilton County sheriff in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond bail.
