MOREHOUSE -- Carol A. Ford, 72, of State Route 8, died unexpectedly December 26, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Ford was born October 3, 1941 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Robert and Shirley (DeCarr) Santmier.
She graduated from Holland Patent Central School.
On April 6, 1963, she was united in marriage with Roland L. “Rolly” Ford. For 35 wonderful years the couple owned and operated the Bear Path Inn in Morehouse. Rolly preceded her in death July 28, 2010.
Carol became the Town of Morehouse Historian in 1994 and was very proud to open the Town’s Museum in 1999. She was a founding member of the Morehouse Women’s Club, where she served as president from 2004 to 2007.
Mrs. Ford was also a member of the Hamilton County Historical Society, where she served as treasurer for several years.
She loved the history of Hamilton County and authored a book, “Morehouse Past and Present.” Her willingness to do anything for anyone who needed help was well known and she enjoyed many years at the family camp in Evergreen Park, Piseco.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and David Valik of Morehouse; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kelly Ford, also of Morehouse; 11 grandchildren who meant everything to her, Robert and Bradley Ford, Kevin, Samantha, Drew, David Jr., John and Jessica Valik, Kayla Wheatley, Desiree Dust and Zackery Pettinelli; one sister, Karen Smith of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Margaret Santmier of Newport; several in-laws in Pennsylvania; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, David Santmier.
Funeral services were held at the Autenrith Funeral Home in Newport Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew Ripp, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Newport, officiating. Spring interment will take place in Morehouse Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Morehouse Women’s Club, Hoffmeister NY 13353. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Robert M. Kintner

LONG LAKE -- Robert M. Kintner, 61, of Long Lake, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born April 15, 1952 in Wellsville, N.Y., he was the son of Myles and Lillian (Monella) Kintner.
Bob was employed with the Hamilton County Highway Department until his retirement in 2010.
On April 23, 2005 he married the former Diana Blair of Long Lake. Bob was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time working on cars and traveling.
He was a member of the Long Lake Fish and Game Club and a retired member of the Long Lake Vol. Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife Diana; one daughter, Sharon Roach and her husband Tim of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Morgan, Xavier and Jasmine; a sister, Sharon Liebrecht and her husband Richard of Lancaster, N.Y.; father-in-law Fred Blair of Long Lake; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Blair and her husband Jason; and a niece, Zoey.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife Linda in 2000 and son Clint in 2001.
