Families benefit

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Four Rivers Alliance and Warren-Hamilton County Community Action Agency I would like to thank the many individuals and organizations that have donated clothing and other household items.

Because of your generosity, we have been able to collect 98 articles of children’s clothing, 134 articles of adult clothing and 39 household items since December. Over 100 local families have benefited from these donations.

In an effort to continue with our mission to create positive opportunities for health and well-being among families and individuals in Hamilton County, we have created several donation sites where you can drop off any unwanted clothing, household items or perhaps things your children have outgrown.

The drop-off locations include the Inlet, Long Lake, Wells and Lake Pleasant schools; Grace United Methodist Church in Speculator; and the Cornell Cooperative Extension Office in Piseco.

Items still needed include children’s clothing, especially smaller sizes. Food pantry donations are also welcome and accepted. Please feel free to contact Community Action at 648-5911 to find out where the food pantries are in your town.

With the start of a new year, we often make resolutions to get back into shape, be more organized, spend more time with family, spend less money, travel more etc. In the spirit of giving, please consider making a resolution to help others in need by donating locally to help your friends and neighbors.

Brandy Richards,

Four Rivers Alliance
