HANNAH WEIDNER of Cold Brook was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester at Alfred University.

Weidner is a senior in the School of Art and Design. Students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average to qualify for Dean’s List.

A graduate of Poland Central School, Weidner is the daughter of Ralph and Carol Weidner.

U.S. News and World Report ranks Alfred University as one of the top regional universities in the Northeast.

IRENE SZAREK of Cold Brook has been named to the fall term Dean’s List at Hartwick College. She is majoring in Art.

Szarek, a freshman, is the daughter of Michele Szarek.

Inclusion on Hartwick’s Dean List is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale.

Hartwick College is a private liberal arts and sciences college of 1,500 students located in Oneonta.

SARA E. GREENE of Cold Brook has been named to the President’s List at Herkimer County Community College for the fall 2012 semester.

Greene is an Early Childhood major. The President’s List recognizes students who have earned an average of 3.8 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York located in Herkimer.

SAM MILLER, a freshman at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt., won the 50 free as a member of the men’s swimming and diving team in Jan. 22 competition against Norwich University.

He and three other members of the team combined to win the 400 free relay.

Facing the State University of New York at Potsdam Jan. 26, Miller placed second in the 50 free. The team’s 400 medley relay also took second, with Miller a member of that squad.

Miller graduated from Long Lake Central School in June 2012.

COLLEEN C. NERNEY of Long Lake is participating in St. Lawrence University’s International Study Program for the spring 2013 semester.

Nerney, a member of the Class of 2014 at St. Lawrence, is studying in London. She graduated from Long Lake Central School.

Located in Canton, St. Lawrence University is a coeducational, private, independent liberal arts institution of about 2,400 students.
