The Cellar Restaurant and Pub will celebrate Presidents’ Day Saturday evening with a party featuring DJ Kevin St. Louis spinning the tracks all night long, food and drink specials. The festivities continue Sunday in Raquette Lake with the annual Cross Cut Competition. Choppers come from near and far to take a hack at becoming the cross cut champion. Competition starts at noon, closing out Raquette Lake Winter Carnival Weekend.
Sunday evening bring the kids out for a Skate Party at the Long Lake Geiger Arena at Mt. Sabattis Recreation Center from 6-10 p.m. Youth and adults alike enjoy skate night favorites such as limbo, red-light green-light, skate races, speed skate and couples skate. DJs Dan and Pat will groove into the night.
Have a day of rest in honor of Presidents’ Day Monday, Feb. 18, before powering through the rest of Winter Wacky Week in Long Lake.
Tuesday’s activities start at noon at the Geiger Arena with a Youth Survivor Event. Youth are invited to build a snow shelter, participate in an obstacle course and play a game of Man Hunt. Every survivor needs nourishment so the day ends with a bonfire and a feast (pizza).
Looking for something warmer to do? Tuesday evening Cindy Black will host an envelope-making craft class at 7 p.m. in Long Lake Town Hall. Call (518) 624-3077 for more information.
Come to the Geiger Arena Wednesday at noon to construct a giant snowman. Youth are invited to watch and build snow castles. Sculpting tools will be provided but feel free to bring sand toys; they work great in the snow, too.
When night falls it’s time for a Long Lake bi-weekly favorite, Trivia Night. Trivia Night takes place at the Cellar Restaurant and Pub beginning at 7 p.m. Bring a team, join one there or play alone.
Things move inside Thursday for a Winter Cozy Craft Day with warm beverages and a cozy atmosphere. Crafting begins at 2 p.m. in the Long Lake Nutrition Site.
Not the crafty type? That’s okay. Feb. 21 is also the date of the Long Lake Hors D’oeurves Tour. The tour begins at 6 p.m.; tickets are $30. One ticket entitles one to three hors d’oeurves at each of the three participating restaurants: The Long Lake Diner & Owl’s Head Pub, The Cellar Restaurant and Pub and The Adirondack Hotel. Friday, Feb. 22, features yet another event for youth. Beginning at noon kids can take part in a Treasure Hunt at the Geiger Arena in celebration of the Mid-Winter Geocaching Event taking place all over Long Lake throughout the weekend.
