BENSON - The Benson Town Board has approved purchasing flood insurance on the Town Barn property from New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal.
It was quoted a premium of about $1,480 yearly in December. The Town Barn is located within a flood plain of the Sacandaga River.
The dry hydrant project lives. Supervisor Ermina Pincombe told the Town Board the estimated cost for the hydrant head and strainer is about $220 plus shipping and the couplings would cost about $200.
She said Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District should be able to supply the rest of the materials. The town and county would provide labor and equipment.
