Sunday, Feb. 2: Jose Dos Santos, 52, Katonah, was charged with DWI by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. The arrest was made in the Town of Indian Lake. Dos Santos was also charged with refusal to submit to a breath test and uninspected motor vehicle.
He was arraigned in Indian Lake Justice Court, where bail was set at $500 cash or $1,000 bond. Dos Santos is to reappear in court March 11 at 6 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 24, 3:31 p.m.: Sherry M. Cardona, 27, Amsterdam, was charged with second-degree forgery - official document, a Class D felony; second-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a Class A misdemeanor; second-degree criminal impersonation, a Class B misdemeanor; and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after turning herself in at the State Police barracks in Indian Lake.
The arrest stems from a traffic stop in the Town of Indian Lake April 23, 2013, when troopers stopped Cardona for failure to stop at a stop sign and she assumed another person's identity due to having a revoked New York license.
The person whose identity she assumed called the court when she received court paperwork regarding the ticket. Cardona was also on probation in Montgomery County.
Cardona was arraigned in Indian Lake Justice Court and remanded to Hamilton County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond bail.
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 4:58 p.m.: Robert T. Levesque, 60, Newcomb, was charged with DWI - previous conviction within the past 10 years and aggravated DWI - one prior, both Class E felonies. State Police at Indian Lake made the arrest on Rt. 28 in the Town of Indian Lake.
Thursday, Feb. 27: Timmy K. Billington, 37, Amsterdam, who was critically injured in a snowmobile accident, has been issued two tickets.
The accident took place Jan. 24 on Trail C8 in the Town of Lake Pleasant. Billington's machine left the trail and hit several trees. He was ejected, sustaining head, face and chest injuries.
Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Deputy William Wilt has charged Billington with reckless operation and imprudent speed. He is to appear in Lake Pleasant Justice Court March 25.
Thursday, Feb. 27, about 11:45 p.m.: State Police responded to a report of a personal injury snowmobile accident on Uncas Road in the Town of Long Lake.
A 2014 Ski-Doo MX-Z was traveling westbound on a trail when the operator, 43-year-old Craig F. Smith of Old Forge, lost control and struck several trees. Raquette Lake Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance took Smith to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica for treatment of a broken pelvis, broken ribs and a bruised lung. The accident is still under investigation.
Friday, Feb. 28: Stephanie G. Stuart, 31, Wells, was charged with two counts of petit larceny for issuing bad checks. Hamilton County Sheriff's Office made the arrest following complaints in the Town of Wells and the Town of Lake Pleasant. Stuart was arraigned in Wells Town Court where bail was set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond. She is to appear in Wells Town Court March 19 at 9 a.m. and in Lake Pleasant Town Court March 18 at 7 p.m.
Sunday, March 2, 6:13 p.m.: John T. Fleming, 56, Wells, was injured in a one-car accident in the Town of Wells.
He was southbound on State Route 30 when he crossed into the northbound lane and struck a box beam guide rail on the Wells bridge. Wells Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Fleming to the Wells Central School landing zone, where he was airlifted by a Life-Net helicopter to Albany Medical Center with leg, chest and head injuries.
Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating; charges are pending.
