ITHACA--Kathryn Wyman, 86, formerly of Indian Lake, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Longview assisted living residence in Ithaca, where she had resided since May of 2011. She was born in Pulaski April 20, 1927. Kay is predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Helian Rhodes; her husband, the Rev. Arthur Wyman; and brothers Donald, Charles and James.
Kay spent many happy years by her husband’s side as he served the churches of Hagaman, Schuyler Falls, Peasleeville, South Plattsburgh, Jonesville, Grooms Corners, Indian Lake and Blue Mountain Lake. She directed many choirs throughout these years and especially cherished her bell choirs. She also fully participated in his work as assistant director at the Charlton School for Girls in Charlton, serving as a housemother in a residential setting for eight years.
She was a prolific and generous artist and has graced many homes with her paintings and needlework.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha-Jane (Jake); grandson Matthew and granddaughter Kathryn (Joey); step-granddaughters Michelle and Heather; step-grandchildren Jaydan, Macy, Delaney, Sean and Brynlee; sister-in-law Carol Byam; and many nieces and nephews. In addition she is survived by several previous residents of the Charlton School for Girls: Pat, Barbara, Sue and Joyce, who have remained close to her and still call her Mom.
A musical celebration of life took place Sunday, April 6, at Longview, 1 Bella Vista Dr., Ithaca.
