Hope seeing a building boom

HOPE - Could a flurry of construction mean things really are on the upswing?

When the Hope Town Board met May 13 Building Inspector Michael Stewart reported he is overseeing nine projects, including five new homes: Doug Gregor, manufactured home installation; Mark Wager, addition; Chris Sweet, new home on existing foundation; Frank Piazza, shed and new house; Don Fontaine, new house; Michael Toohey, subdivision; Robert Edwards, manufactured home installation; Ron Thatcher, shed; and Dave Galpin, porch.

With just 403 residents, this is a lot of activity.

In other business, the board voted to set aside $4,550 toward a new roof on the town garage and $5,000 toward replacing the roll-off truck.

Also, someone ordered to do community service will be used to help clean up the town park.
