What's Up - Kurt Knapp


of Nashville, Tenn. has transferred to the Aviation Unit of Nashville's Metro Police Department from his position as a sergeant detective.

He joined Metro PD March 1, 1999. He was the June 2012 Investigator of the Month and has earned several other departmental awards.

Before signing on with Metro PD Knapp was a member of the United States Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (The Nightstalkers). He graduated Wells High School in 1989.

He and his wife, Melissa, have two children: Hannah, 5, and Kaden, 2. Melissa teaches at Harpeth Valley Elementary School, which is part of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

Kurt is a son of Nancy Ellis of Binghamton and the late Bruce Knapp of Lake Pleasant and a stepson of Cristine Meixner of Speculator, where he was raised.
