Colleen Pine earns $1,000 scholarship

GLENS FALLS - Glens Falls Community Theatre awarded $2,500 in scholarships to three area high school seniors June 19, including Colleen Pine of Indian Lake.

Scholarship Committee Chairman Mark Collier presented a $1,000 scholarship to Emily Whipple, a Hudson Falls High School graduate who will attend Long Island University and major in musical theater; a $1,000 scholarship to Colleen Pine, an Indian Lake Central School graduate who will attend Niagara University and major in theater arts; and the $500 Stan Gericke Scholarship to Ben Baker, a Queensbury High School graduate, who will be attend Syracuse University and major in music education.

Applicants must be area high school seniors who have been accepted by a four-year college or university and will be pursuing a degree in music, music education, theater, dance or technical theater.

Each applicant is required to audition for, and be interviewed by, a panel of judges. Auditions could be a vocal or instrumental solo, a dance performance or a brief dramatic excerpt, reading or monologue. Students receive their scholarships after they have completed their first semester of college.
