This year's event will support Bladder Cancer Awareness in honor of Judy Hitchcock, a dedicated member of the 9-Hole League, who lost her four-month battle with bladder cancer July 21. All of the $20 registration fee will go directly to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network.
Prizes will be awarded both ladies' and men's teams for Lowest Scramble score, Fewest Putts and Most Birdies. Individual prizes include Closest-to-the-Hole and Longest Drive.
Golfers must sign up by July 17. Use the sign-up sheet in the hallway to the locker rooms at the golf club or call Gail Damon or Sue Dowling. Registration fees will be collected (cash or check to BCAN) July 24.
There is a mandatory $5 cart fee to be paid at the pro shop. Golfers who are not IGC members will be allowed to pay the league rate of $25 for nine holes.
The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network's mission is to advance research, provide educational resources and support services and raise awareness about bladder cancer. Each golfer will receive a goody bag.
Each participant is asked to bring an item to donate to a Chinese Auction to raise additional money for BCAN. Make it, bake it, sew it, sow it, grow it or buy it. Any individual or business who wishes to donate an item or a gift certificate is asked to contact Gail Damon at (315) 357-4621, Sue Dowling at 357-3196 or Jennifer Blakeman at 357-2103 to make arrangements.
It is hoped golfers and golfer wannabes will take advantage of this scramble format to come out for a fun-filled morning of golf followed by an Awards Luncheon at Mulligans and the Chinese Auction. Non-golfers wishing to support this year's cause are welcome to participate in the Awards Luncheon and Chinese Auction, as attendees, item donors or both.
Non-golfers should stop by Mulligan's Restaurant at Inlet Golf Club to make reservations by July 17 or call Mulligans at (315) 357-4310. Attending just the luncheon costs $15 each, payable the day of the event.
