In the previous week's game at Inlet, the Screamers crushed the team from Raquette Lake with a score of 16-1. Dede Ste-Marie, Beth Williamson, Ashley Fowler and Emily Wilton all had three-hit games. Loren Dykeman pitched another fine game, and the team defense was superb. Heather Levi, Brittany Jackson, Crystal LaPorte, and Kyle Hauser all scored twice and the team combined for 20 hits.
Last week the team traveled and found themselves in a battle in Speculator. The home team outhit the Screamers 19-18. However, the Screamers had the bigger bats, led by Meghan Kraeger, who went four for four with an RBI double and a two-run homer.
Beth Williamson hit a three-run homer in the first inning for her third home run of the season. Kyle Hauser had three hits and scored twice.
In a close game into the sixth inning the Screamers put together a big six-run inning to take a 12-5 lead. Heather Levi got things going with a lead-off single followed by Crystal LaPorte, Katlyn Payne, and Emily Wilton.
Loren Dykeman cracked a three-run double and later scored on Ste-Marie's single. Hauser and Kraeger also hit safely to cap an eight hit, six-run inning.
Speculator came right back with five hits of its own but only scored twice, thanks to three outfield assists throwing out base runners to minimize the threat. The final score was 12-7.
The next game was at Arrowhead Park against the Black Mountain team from North Creek Tuesday, July 15.
