SPECULATOR - The Hamilton County Youth Board is sponsoring its Fourth Annual Family Fun Day Monday, Aug. 5, at the Speculator Ball Field and Pavilion from 2-6 p.m. There will be lots of activities for children of all ages.
Activities include a rock climbing wall, a water slide, an inflatable obstacle course, a bounce house, a radar pitch machine, arts and crafts, face painting and much more. A dunk booth and caricatures (for a small fee) are new this year.
Law enforcement agencies will hold a K-9 demonstration, conduct car seat safety inspections (bring car seats) and provide ID cards in conjunction with Operation Safe Child. The State Police will bring its Rollover Simulator and Seatbelt Convincer.
Fire trucks, ambulances and forest ranger rescue vehicles, an airboat and a Hummer will be on display. There will be opportunities for families to learn about the services available throughout Hamilton County.
The Dependents and Emeralds of July will play throughout the day. Bring a chair.
The movie "Turbo" will be shown at Indian Lake Theater at 7 p.m.; tickets are $5 each. Help support Hamilton County's only local theater by coming to watch the show on its new screen via digital projector.
Family Fun Day is free for all Hamilton County residents, but donations are appreciated. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to local food pantries.
Speculator Volunteer Fire Department will sell food and beverages.
Thanks to generous donations from local businesses and organizations around the county, there will be lots of free giveaways. Stop by and visit local organizations set up in the pavilion to receive tickets for the giveaways.
The Hamilton County Youth Board thanks the generous sponsors who have helped make this event a success. Over the past four years it has grown, with over 550 attending last year.
