INDIAN LAKE - Dave and Kim Ameden are now open for business with their flooring installation and care store in the former Pick-It Patch at the corner of state routes 28 and 30 here.

The Hamilton County Industrial Development Agency approved the Amedens' plans to offer a storefront in December, but they later decided to decline the loan and were able to go forward with private financing.

Dave Ameden has years of experience first working for and then owning Village Floor & Tile, which was started in 1998 by Vogel Construction, Speculator.

In recent years the Amedens operated Village Floor & Tile primarily as a floor and carpet cleaning service. Most recently, they have cleaned the floors and installing new tiling at Charlie Johns Store and new wood floors at Mountain Market in Speculator.

But Indian Lake is their home, and the Amedens are happy to now run their business from their new showroom in their hometown.

The new location has a new name -- Dave Ameden Floor Care -- and already has a website at

Dave says it may take a month or so before new siding goes up on the building. But once inside, one forgets about the exterior and is impressed by the clean, well-designed interior and the wide scope of floor coverings Ameden sells and installs.

Ameden says, "Whether it's a simple carpet remnant or a full home make-over, rest assured that Hamilton County's most experienced and dedicated floor covering family will provide the best installation and customer service at competitive prices.

"We specialize in all flooring materials including carpet, hardwood, laminate and tile. We also provide maintenance services including hardwood refinishing and carpet cleaning."

The store is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call (518) 648-5717.
