I want to thank everyone in our wonderful community for coming out in such amazing numbers to support the Friends of the Lake Pleasant Library's book signing Saturday featuring Jay Tunney's book, "The Prizefighter and the Playwright."
Mr. Tunney enthralled us with a fascinating talk about his father, Gene Tunney, and the friendship that developed between Gene and George Bernard Shaw, two of the most famous men in the 20th century.
Gene embraced the Village of Speculator, and specifically Osborne Point, as he prepared for his biggest boxing matches as world champion.
If you were one of the unlucky ones who did not get your book before they sold out, Charlie Johns Store will be getting a new shipment soon. If you want an autographed copy you may contact: The Hickory Stick Book Shop at (860) 868-0525 and ask for Pat or John, or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
