Saturday, July 28: Two Wells men both reported a rifle missing or stolen from their homes.
Wednesday, Aug. 1, 8:15pm: George G. Locke, 59, Indian Lake, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 percent or more - first offense and DWI - first offense, both misdemeanors, after being stopped by State Police for driving to the left of the pavement markings on Rt. 28 in the Town of Indian Lake.
Sunday, Aug. 5, 8:45am: Jason T. Hemmings, 35, Long Lake, was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and criminal mischief - intent to damage property, both Class A misdemeanors; and third-degree menacing, a Class B misdemeanor, following a report of a domestic dispute in the Town of Long Lake. State Police made the arrest.
Monday, Aug. 6, about 4:10pm: John T. Gibbs, 68, Tampa, Fla. was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle while southbound on Rt. 30 north of Speculator, just north of the Jessup River Road.
According to witnesses whom Gibbs passed “he was going way too fast” when he entered a curve, left the road and clipped the end of a section of guide rail on the east side of the highway. The motorcycle went down a steep embankment into woods, traveling about 100 feet before coming to rest.
As Speculator Volunteer Ambulance Corps carried him to the ambulance Gibbs complained of severe back pain. He was transferred to a State Police medical helicopter at Wells Central School and taken to a trauma center.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Stuart is investigating.
