I want to pass along some remarks regarding an extremely pleasant experience a friend of mine and I had recently when we boarded a trail at North Creek and traveled down to Saratoga.
The train has been completely restored. We opted to sit in the Vista Dome and were enthralled with the trip along the Hudson, and most especially the Vista Dome Dining Car.
It was a trip back to the 1930s, with comfortable seating, tables set with white cloths and silver placed in napkins. There was a fresh flower displayed on each table together with a small tea lamp and the food was excellent.
We ordered lunch from a very fine menu, which was prepared by the chef on the train. Upon arriving at the Saratoga station we took a short taxi ride into the Springs and had three hours to walk through the main street enjoying the excellent shops and then back on the train, where we were served a most delicious dinner.
This is an experience we will repeat. To get information call the North Creek station at (518) 618-3595, or visit the Saratoga-North Creek Railway on the Internet at www.sncrr.com.
