President Teddy Roosevelt reprisor Joe Wiegand was at the North Creek Depot Sept. 14 during a weekend celebration marking the 26th president's nighttime "ride for the presidency." Roosevelt was at the Tahawus Club when he was summoned to Washington, D.C. due to President William McKinley Jr.'s imminent demise. When he reached the North Creek Depot he was informed of McKinley's death. "T.R." also welcomed The Leviathan No. 63 steam locomotive during its first visit to the Northeast. The Saratoga & North Creek Railway sponsored Wiegand's appearance.
